After the remakes of Ben Hur, Chris the Lord, Voice from the Stone and Diabolik, Metro Goldwin Mayer will film a new version of 007 under the direction of Sam Mendes in Rome in the upcoming months of February and March 2015. The investments will be considerable since this last production will bring James Bond, played by Daniel Craig, to the capital, where he will be exploring various historical sites. Furthermore in 2015, Paramount Pictures is going to produce in Italy the long-awaited sequel of Zoolander, directed and played by Ben Stiller.
The increase of international film productions in Italy follows the implementation of the “Decreto Cultura”, on July 28, 2014, which introduced important measures to attract foreign investment in the sector of film and audiovisual production. These measures, which were implemented into law approximately six months ago, have already provided very positive results.
The initiatives that allowed for the reboot in local film provided by the Decree are essentially composed of two parts:
The increase from 5 to 10 million euro in cinema tax credit for film production companies and technical industries that are in Italy and use Italian labor;
The allocation of tax breaks for the cinema and audiovisuals, which has increased 5 million Euro, rising from 110 million to 115 million.
